Beach Overview

Dazzling, snow white sands, brilliant green waters and a distinctly Southern grace characterize the Emerald Coast. Surrounded by the Gulf, Choctawhatchee Bay, Santa Rosa Sound, and many miles of docks and harbors. Standing on the  Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier a refreshing water bound feeling comes to ones senses along with a sudden urge to catch the big one! Saltwater fishing is a universally recognized sport here, and the bounty of the sea yields cobia, triggerfish, king mackerel and more in the "Billfish Capital of the World."

Fort Walton Beach is a beach lovers paradise and utterly charming seaside resort town. This slice of Florida's upper Gulf coast offers an easy pace and a gentle hospitality that is as refreshing as its balmy sea breezes. Sparsely scattered with sea oats, sand pines and blossoming magnolias, six mile stretches of gentle sand dunes alternate with glimpses of civilization and pockets of beach parks with pavilions and gazebos along a picturesque coastline. These sun-kissed shores are host to an extensive variety of entertainment and recreational possibilities. Home to several museums, Emerald Coast Science Center and Indian Temple Mound. One of the more popular attractions is Gulfarium, a park featuring marine life exhibits and performances. Shopping and dining are captivating experiences in historic downtown Fort Walton Beach. This area is going thru rapid growth that endangers its existence as a charming seaside resort town.  Lets just hope this area doesn't go the way of Miami Beach.
