Beach Overview

Five islands and a coastal area along a bayou aim to teach visitors about the interdependence of barriers, mainland, and all the waters in between. Regular ferry service takes daytrippers to West Ship Island (split off from East Ship by Hurricane Camille in 1969) to enjoy the sandy beach and Gulf waters, or to tour an intact 19th century fort. The wilderness islands are reached by chartered or private boats. |
