Beach Overview The beaches have been cleaned up and are now open to the public. They have done a real good job restoring the beaches and I think you will find them to your satisfaction. Last time I was there, there were Port-A-Lets for restrooms,,, better than nothing. You can find a Dollar Store and some small grocery stores in the area on the north side of the railroad tracks. There are some small restaurants but far and in-between. For the first 3 blocks inward from the beach almost nothing is still standing. Some of the houses on the hill between Pass Christian and Long Beach did survive but still had some damage. Looks like the condos are coming. The first one is being built in Pass Christian near Henderson Point. I hate to say it but from the beach to the railroad tracks just about everything has been washed away. I have a feeling that the Mississippi Gulf Coast is going to have a condo and casino boom. The locals had kept them out in the past but now I feel they don't have a choice. |
